Turtles or Hares?

Anyone who has ever moved or undertaken a large project knows how disconcerting change can be. Routines are interrupted, the expected becomes the unexpected.

We are in the process of making some changes at the club. Physical changes like moving offices, and so forth, and less obvious but important ones like online ticketing.

If we are a little out of sorts, let us know and we'll shape up, but remember that we are a little knocked off kilter.

The Politics of Laughter

I have read quite a bit today about whether or not it is appropriate for the President to laugh while talking about the war in Iraq. I don't know if you say the press conference he did today, but I have posted in the past about this subject.

The President seems to be a person who is at heart a salesman. Many salesmen I have met use humor to get the closing process going and to help make a difficult situation less so. At the same time, I believe that the healing power of laughter can ease the sadness and sorrow which can accompany the most tragic events.

Combine these two things and I think you get a scenario like the one you saw today.

Lynn Bartlett

For many years, actually for more than a decade, Lynn Bartlett was one of our servers at the club. During some of that time, her daughter Kristi also worked at the club.

I am sad to say that Lynn was killed over the weekend during a crime that also severely injured her son.

Our thoughts are with Lynn's family during this dark time, and while Lynn has not worked at the club for a number of years, many comedians remembered her fondly.

Big Hitters

I have really enjoyed the last few weeks here at the club. We have seen some faces we haven't seen in a while. We celebrated our anniversary. We are about to welcome to the club one the best comedians working today for an extended run of shows. It's not a bad time to be around.

I hope that you are enjoying it as well. Every now and again I wonder who reads these postings, and whether or not I should expect any additional commentary. It would be presumptous to assume that any individual customer or member of our performance family would even care about my musings. Nevertheless, I do wonder whether or not I should do more about revealing the behind the scenes stories. Does anyone care that this agent or that is being a total pain? Is there really any person hanging on my thoughts about the coming changes in liquor laws in Sandy Springs?

I hope that my words, when posted, are interesting or amusing. If not, then jump on in there and let me know that you think I stink.

Polyblogmy?

So if you have been wondering what has happened to this blog, let me point you over to our myspace.com/thepunchlinecomedyclub site. It seems that all of my posts go over there and not here.

I'll try to do a better job of not neglecting this blog, but you know how it goes when you have a similiar thing vying for your attention.

If you haven't gotten your Ron White tickets, I would suggest that you get on the stick. We are working on getting our online ticketing fired up, and once it gets going it should be pretty incredible - which is to say that it should be filled with glitches at least initially.
