Busy Weekend

So Pablo is back and there are very few seats to be had. It's not a bad problem to have. In point of fact, Charlie Murphy is also is town and his show is sold out, and that is an event that we are helping to present.

I hope that you've taken the opportunity to visit with us, we are looking to continue to improve on the comedy experience this year - much the same as we did last year.

Our thanks to Ron White who stopped by to do a couple of guest sets in preparation for what I think is another tour. His is really an old school professional, which is something that many newer, and some established actually, comedians could learn from.

Monday Morning Quarterback

One of my resolutions this year was to do things better. You'd be surprised how easy a resolution that is to break.

Here's what I would ask of you, our customers - touch base with me more often.

I think that at times what we may identify as the things to focus on may not be the same as the things that you focus on.

Tom Rhodes did a great job this weekend. So did Michael Sommerville.

Missing Radio

There are times when things just happen.

This morning was one of those times.

It probably costs, well, a few seats each show.

It's don't make me happy. Not in the least.

On Picking New Talent

Every week we get a number of material from comedians who are looking to have us book them. We do our best to keep up, and in some respects the materials separates itself.

We know what we are looking for, but what are you looking for?

Who are the acts that we aren't booking enough? Who are the acts that we aren't booking at all?

Resolutions and Propositions

Here it is, brand spanking new - 2006.

I've got some work to do, namely getting up the posting about comedians we paid in 2005. It's always interesting to see what names have dropped off the list, and which ones have stayed. It's interesting as well to see which names are new.

We got to see some friends that we haven't seen in a while, people like Dan Menghini and Costaki, both of whom I consider to be peers. They wanted to know whether or not it hurt their ability to be booked here because they play the other comedy club in the market. I told them that it didn't per se, rather it is hard to break out of the cycle once you get in with a particular club. In addition to which they are headliners over there, while they are split week headliners for us, so it is a judgement call for them.

Clearly they need to build a name for themselves in the market, and we can only utilize them so much, so it's my hope that when it's time we'll all know it and cross that bridge when we get there.
