On Penmanship
This Article in the Washington Post talks about the demise of penmanship, or more particularly of cursive.
The reason this hit home with me is that two of my girls have gone through Montessori and were taught or are being taught cursive. My oldest is in kindergarten at a public school and is now being taught block printing.
For my money there is a direct link between understanding how to write in cursive and critical thinking.
The less we teach kids about writing the less intelligent our kids will become. Kids who can't write can't express themselves as well as kids who can. Kids who can't express themselves well are going to struggle more than kids who can.
Let the kids get outside playing in some unstructured way and teach them how to write. The kids will figure out among themselves that it's ok to beat up the ones writing in cursive in the dirt.

Comedian Cory Holcomb Graffiti....
If you have never been behind the back bar in our club or went upstairs to the office, then you have never likely seen all of the graffiti on the walls. The green room is filled with it as well. Some don't like it, as comedians do tend to take shots at each other - but I think it's like some humor petrogliff.
Comedian Keith Terry.....
Keith Terry is a cat who just jumps off the stage. He will remind educated comedian fans of Franklin Ajaye and Chappelle. He just has that kind of engagement and energy. We are looking forward to seeing him quite a bit down the road. If you see that Keith is coming to town, make sure you come out to see his show.
Super Retardo - Comedian Mitch Fatel
We really had fun with Mitch Fatel last week, and I wanted to get a picture up fairly quickly. Mitch is very funny, and very much on the rise I would say. The audiences really enjoyed his show and he is experimenting with some multimedia elements that I believe are part of the next wave of live comedy shows.
